I have a book I recently scanned in and used FineReader Pro on Mac OS X to run OCR on and export to a 150mb PDF. One of the things I love about ebooks is being able to make annotations and highlight text, but now when I make even the smallest change to a PDF that I exported from FineReader, the file size begins to skyrocket. A 150mb ebook has become a 2.5gb file after highlighting 20 words! I don't know exactly when this started because I haven't been annotating PDFs on my Mac regularly, but now that I am, I've notice the massive change in file size when ever Preview saves a PDF. I'm certain it never used to do this and this does not happen on iOS using apps such as GoodReader for making annotations.
Computer specs:
Mac OS X 10.9.5
2013 Macbook Air, 8gb ram
Does anyone know what's going on here?! Any help is greatly appreciated, these giant PDFs can be really hard for my system to manage.
